I hope to be able to get back to San Francisco leaving next Thursday; I wish I had time to come to Ottawa I've twice been this length and got stuck.

It was nice of you to take so much trouble with these Hong Kong evacuees; they really appreciate it. I hope they don't worry you too much but they are of course naturally` rather unsettled as yet.

One last thing. Mrs. McBride at this office has put in a great deal of extra work over this business late hours on week days and on Saturday afternoon and Sunday also. I would like to recommend officially that she receive an honoraria $25.--.

I have discussed this with Paterson, who agrees. If you approve, you pass the recommendation on to London with your backing?
